City of New Orleans

Post-Katrina New Orleans has seen an incredible influx of new people, new companies and new ideas, bent on rejuvenating the city. Bond has used this as an opportunity to harness the power of the “new” New Orleans in fostering an image of the city as a hub for innovation, creativity and commerce.

Client Goal

Post-Katrina New Orleans has seen an incredible influx of new people, new companies and new ideas, bent on rejuvenating the city. We have used this as an opportunity to harness the power of the “new” New Orleans in fostering an image of the city as a hub for innovation, creativity and commerce. Working closely with Greater New Orleans, Inc., the Idea Village, New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau, The Downtown Development District and a group of committed, passionate entrepreneurs, Bond continues on a mission to mold positive perceptions of the City of New Orleans as a great place to live and work.

Campaign Approach

Ongoing Media Relations – We continue to support the initiative by cultivating relationships and securing media coverage with the business, entrepreneurial, local and mainstream media.

Issue Management – In response to such issues as the Hurricane Katrina Anniversaries, the Saints Superbowl Win, the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, and National Flood Insurance Protection bill, we leverage the increased spotlight on New Orleans as an opportunity to highlight regional positives and establish New Orleans as a model of success for other cities.

Owned Events – During events such as New Orleans Entrepreneur Week, TEDxNOLA and Essence Festival, we craft messaging for the young professionals visiting New Orleans, immersing them in the “new” New Orleans and effectively recruiting them as ambassadors for the city.

Event Participation – For events such as SIGGRAPH, French Quarter Festival, Voodoo Experience and SXSW, we use booths, panel participation and media interviews as an opportunity to communicate the viability of New Orleans on as location for new careers and new business.

Results & Impact

Through our efforts, we continue to secure positive media coverage, dramatically raising the city’s profile as an attractive destination for young professionals, entrepreneurs, startups and enterprise-level businesses. Media coverage includes: The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, Forbes, BusinessWeek, Inc. Magazine, Maxim Magazine, CNN, CNBC and many other outlets. We have successfully managed the city’s presence at innumerable events as well, locally and nationally.
