Blaze Pizza to Heat Up Frisco Pizza Scene in May
March 12, 2015
Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza, the celebrity-backed build-your-own pizza chain that’s among the fastest growing brands in the nation, will open its first Texas location in Frisco in mid-May.
The Preston Road and Gaylord Parkway location, in the Centre at Preston Ridge, is owned by a San Diego-based franchisee. The Frisco outlet will be among the first Blaze locations to carry local beer – including offerings from 512 Brewing and Community Beer Company — along with wine.
Founded by Elise and Rick Wetzel (co-founder of Wetzel’s Pretzels), Blaze is one of the key competitors to Pie Five, a fast casual concept based in The Colony. Blaze is backed by investors including LeBron James, Maria Shriver and Boston Red Sox co-owner Tom Werner.
Each restaurant features an assembly-line format, with up to eight workers, called pizzasmiths, crafting 11-inch pizzas that are baked in an open-flame oven. The pizza is ready withinin three minutes and costs about $8.
No word yet from franchisee Saddles Blazin LLC on how many locations are planned for North Texas.
