George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts partners with Louisiana Restaurant Association Education Foundation to launch art contest

Seniors and juniors (public, private, home-school and GED) have the opportunity to win scholarships and see their artwork published in a cookbook.

The George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts (GRFA) in partnership with the Louisiana Restaurant Association Education Foundation (LRAEF) calls for artistic entries on the theme “Louisiana’s Culinary Heritage.” The cookbook will showcase 100 recipes from the state’s acclaimed chefs. Proceeds from book sales will benefit GRFA and LRAEF programs.

Artwork will be judged on interpretation of theme, creativity and design. Submissions must be between 11 x 14 and 18 x 24 inches in oil or acrylic paint, charcoal, pencil or graphite, watercolor, photography, mixed media or digital media. No framed or matted canvases or three dimensional works.

Signatures must be on the back.

Contest winners will be revealed March 23.

He encourages whole classes of art students to submit their work, not just those who think they will win. Publication in the cookbook is an honor and participants have the opportunity to draw from a $45,000 pot of scholarships.
