The second annual Boudin & Beer fundraising event will raise money for the Emeril Lagasse Foundation and satisfy taste buds with sausage and beer.

This Friday, November 2, the Three Kings of Pork, Emeril, Donald Link and Mario Batali, host the second annual Boudin & Beer block party/fundraiser/feeding frenzy to raise money for charity, or as Blackened Out puts it, "to blow your mind with sausage." 50 chefs from New Orleans and beyond, will "glad-hand with the poise of a politician," or "shuffle nervously, like kids shoved into the spotlight by overeager stage moms," as Todd A. Price reports, while serving up some mean artisan sausage. Can you even handle it? Emeril already tweeted about La Petite Grocery's squid ink (freaking SQUID INK) Boudin Noir that will be on hand.

So what to expect this year? It's still at the Foundry in the Warehouse District this year, and you can wear jeans. There will be plenty o' beer from Abita, bourbon from Buffalo Trace, and cigars from Nat Sherman. Ian McNulty reports that Rouses will do stations of vegetables and side dishes, and goateed Cabo Wabo dude Sammy Hagar will present his Sammy's Beach Bar Rum in a special cocktail. Feufollet, Drake White and the Red Stick Ramblers will provide the entertainment, and there's also an exhibit that's all about boudin. Tickets are $85, available here. The event is the kickoff-party to Saturday's Carnival Du Vin, a $1,000/seat gala wine auction that also raises money for the Emeril Lagasse Foundation. And what does the foundation do, you ask? All sorts of cool stuff geared towards kids, including contributing funding to NOCCA, the Edible Schoolyard, Café Reconcile, and more.
