The Leblanc + Smith boutique restaurant team offers tantalizing options for this year’s month-long culinary event
During the month of August, restaurants across the city invite you to experience cuisine that delights your palate and is an integral part of the history and culture of New Orleans. COOLinary is culinary tradition that features specially priced prix-fixe lunch, dinner and brunch menus. This year, the Leblanc + Smith team (proprietors of Sylvain, Cavan and more) has put together an array of exciting menus inspired by the spirit of southern hospitality.
A celebration of both new and old in its design aesthetic as well as menu offerings, Sylvain is an oasis of style and unmatched quality in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Their brunch and dinner menu offer Southern bistro classics elevated to the style of refined cuisine. Some of this year’s COOLinary highlights include Deviled Eggs with bacon and salmon roe, Shrimp & Grits with
tomato basil brood, bacon, mushrooms, and caramelized onions, in addition to the mouthwatering “Chick-Syl-vain” Biscuit served at brunch time.
Longway Tavern is a “third place” for everyone living, working, and playing in the French Quarter–a casual spot where you can grab a bite and a beer before heading off to other destinations, or a place to savor a nightcap when the party is winding down. The open-air courtyard is a serene oasis for gatherings of friends old and new. Chef John Sinclair offers creative twists on nostalgic tavern fare, while Liam Deegan’s cocktails give the same treatment to the French Quarter classics that we all grew up drinking. Highlights from their COOLinary offerings include Home Frieswithpork belly, creme fraiche, caramelized onion, chives and Pork Tenderloinwith broccoli rabe, roasted garlic, fennel seed.

Meauxbar is a French bistro located on a picturesque corner of North Rampart Street bordering the historic French Quarter and Treme neighborhoods. Their food reflects the global influence of French cuisine and is sourced from a wide array of local purveyors. A typical evening finds an eclectic mix of French Quarter residents, locals from across the city, as well as out of town visitors dining, drinking and laughing together amidst the ambient glow of the streetlamps. Highlights from their dinner and brunch COOLinary menus include LA Gulf Fish Amandine with popcorn rice, haricots verts and a Ginger Braised Chicken withgrilled peaches, candied nuts, and coconut cornmeal waffle.
